Aug.,  2016

My counts were all still in the normal range this month however, they did go down
some.  The dr. seems to think that the stress of everything had a little to do
with that; but my white count going down some was a blessing which meant that I
was not trying to fight off anything, (cold, etc.)!  So that is a blessing!!!

July, 2016

Sorry I did not post counts for the month of June.  I did have them done in
the hospital after the accident but all they told me was that they were all
good and did not give me any specifics nor did they give me a copy of the
results.  But I did just get the results back for my July blood work and

they were fantastic!  Everything had gone up and my platelets were higher
than they have ever been since the leukemia!  God has truly been good to me.
Much more than I deserve.  Thank you all for your continued prayers; keep
them up, please!

May,  2016

I was scheduled for another bone marrow biopsy this month to make sure that my
leukemia was still in remission.  But Praise the Lord, when I had my blood work
done,
and they looked at the results, they were so good again this month, that they
decided to cancel the biopsy!!!!!!!  Even though all the counts went down just a little,
they are all still in the normal range which is what they are looking for.   Your
prayers are working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

better!

January, 2016

My counts in Jan. were all up which is a tremendous blessing except for my white
count.  It is extremely high this month but I was not surprised as I have been
having some chills and low grade fever for a few days and also a sore throat
which obviously means I am fighting off something.  So the doctors here are not
concerned since all my other counts are great!   God bless you all and keep on
praying!

Dec.  2015

We had a small scare this past month as I noticed some lumps had come up on
my arms and a couple on my back.  The doctors here were  worried that the
cancer may be coming back in some other form such as lymphoma.  We had it
checked out and we are Praising the Lord that they were only paloma tumors
which are just a type of fatty cyst and are harmless.  They didn't even have to
remove them.  Due to my sisters history of colon cancer the doctors also did a
colonoscopy and found some polyps which were pre cancer and they removed them
and said that there was nothing to worry about.  God is so good!  Please continue
to pray as the Lord is hearing and answering!  Amen!

Hemaglobin                       13.0 up to 13.1                                               12.1 to 15.1

Oct.    2015

Here we are again with my monthly counts!  Some have gone down, some are the same, but
they are all still in the normal range to which we give God all the glory and praise!  We have
been really busy since our return and I might need to slow down a little!  Keep praying
everyone!

Hemaglobin                       13.0 stayed the same at 13.0                       12.1 to 15.1

Aug.  2015

Sorry it's been awhile since I posted my counts!  Some of the results were down
some, but they were really great for the month of Aug.  In fact, my platelets
were the highest they have been since I was diagnosed with leukemia!  At least
everything is still in the normal range!  Praise the Lord!  Here they are:

Hemaglobin                       14.1 down to 13.0                       12.1 to 15.1
Hematocrat                      42.5 down to 39.3                       36.1 to 44.3

May    2015

These are my counts for May.  God did it again!  Everything was up and my liver
enzymes were right on in the normal range.  Also, my bone marrow biopsy came
back clear with "no leukemia blasts" which means it is still in remission!  Praise
God from whom all blessings flow!  Thank you all for your faithful prayers!

Hemaglobin                       13.2 up to 14.1                          12.1 to 15.1

Once again, the Lord has been so good to me.  My counts are still doing great
and my liver enzymes were back in the normal range once again.  God bless you
all for your faithful prayers.

January 2015

I did not have my counts done in December because I was sick most of the month
with a really bad case of bronchitis and I knew that my counts would not be
good. Praise the Lord, I am know pretty much over it and my counts are once
again in the normal range.  My liver enzymes were low this month but that could
be due to fighting off the sickness also.  God is good!  Keep on praying!

Hemaglobin                       12.6 up to 12.9                          12.1 to 15.1

White Blood Count                7.5 down to 6.4                          3.8 to 9.8

November 2014

My counts were down just a little bit this month, but the doctors did say that
they would bounce around from month to month and would also depend on
circumstances, (how tired I was, etc.).  But we are praising the Lord that they
are all still in the normal range and I am feeling great!  The doctor's told me
from the beginning that my counts would never be in the normal range again.  (But
he forgot that God was in control, Amen!)

The doctors were so impressed with my counts that they said because I was 3
1/2 years out in remission and my counts were so good this month, they didn't
even need to do the bone marrow biopsy!  Praise the Lord!!!  They said that as
long as my counts stayed good, I would not have to have another bone marrow
biopsy!!!  God is soooooo good!!!!

praise God for His goodness.

March 2014
Mary's white blood count is high due to her having a cold for so long.  She has had it since the 10th of
January but it is getting better.  Please pray that she can knock it soon.

The doctor was both shocked and very pleased with her counts being so good.  They never thought they
would come back this good but then they didn't consider the Great Physician either!  God is soooooooooo
good!  Thank you all for your faithful prayers for her.

She has had another bone marrow biopsy but we don't have the results back yet.  We will post the
results as soon as we know them but the doctors said that they don't expect any problems with her
counts being so good.

Mary was diagnosed with bronchitis about a week ago and the doctor gave her antibotics.  After the

blood count have come up.  God is so good to us.  Mary had a bone marrow tap done on February 18 and
we just received the results this week.   Because of your continued prayers God performed another
miracle and the leukemia is still in remission.  We Praise His Holy Name for the answered prayer.

Praise God, He did it again!  First we want to report that Mary's bone marrow biopsy came back and it
once again showed no signs of any leukemia blasts which means that it is still "IN REMISSION"!  Our
first Praise!  She saw the surgeon about the lump on her back.  After a full examination of her whole
body the doctor said, "Honey, I'm not sure why they sent you to me, because you have no swollen lymph
nodes anywhere on your body, and the lump on your back is just a fatty cyst"!  Praise God again!  We
saw her oncologists to talk to them about the blood work being low this month.  They knew that her
blood counts would fluctuate some from month to month.  But they did not realize that they would go
down that drastically in one month.  After conferring one with another they concluded that this is
probably how her counts will continue to do, (up and down). They are being very cautious and want her to
have another blood work draw the end of September.  If her counts are about the same or better, they
said that this is probably going to be her "new normal".    It is at this time that they would release her
to go back to the mission field. She will have to be very cautious about infections, etc., but she is doing
that now.  Mary will have blood work done monthly in the Dominican and the results will be faxed back
to her oncologists in the states.  This has already been set up with her doctor in Santa Domingo.  She
will return to the states on February 18 to see the oncologists and have another bone marrow biopsy.
Our projected date to fly back to the mission field is October 12.  We Praise God for all He has done.
We thank all of you who have so faithfully prayed and sacrificially given to us through this trial of
Mary's leukemia.  We ask for your continued prayers as we make our preparations to return to the
mission field.  Upon our return, Mary will need your daily prayers of protection from the many sicknesses
and viruses prevalent in the country.  We will continue to post updates about Mary's health and the
goodness of God!

August 31, 2012
Mary went in for her normal blood work, to have a bone marrow biopsy, and see the doctor.  To our
surprise her counts were not up.  They did not even stay the same but rather went down.  As you can
see, her hemaglobin and hematocrat went down some but are still in the low normal range which is good.
The doctor was concerned about her white blood count, platelets, and absolute neutrophils making such a
drastic drop.  They also found a small lump on the left side of her back just below the shoulder blade.
They examined it and have decided that they need to take a closer look.  She is scheduled to see a
surgeon on September 10th for a biopsy.  Please continue to pray for her counts and the lump.  This
may not be anything but they are being very cautious.

During our travels Mary has been doing well.  She is gaining more strength each day.  Her next blood
work will be the end of July.  We are praying that her absolute neutrophils will be up when we receive
the results.  Please pray for continued strength.

June 12, 2012
Mary had blood work done before we left on our trip out west so we would know what precautions need
to be taken.  Praise the Lord her counts are looking great.  Her platelets are not in the normal range,
but the doctor said that as long as they are over 100 he is okay with that.  Our God is so good.

Mary's Range                                                Normal Range

June 4, 2012
Mary's bone marrow results from May 23 are in and we are rejoicing. It came back with a negative
result.  Praise the Lord.

May 25, 2012
Mary had a small set back this month with a bout of pneumonia which put her in the hospital for about 3
days.  She is doing much better now but due to the pneumonia infection her immune system had to work
over time and her counts went down again this month.  The red count is still in the low normal range
which we praise the Lord for. Her white count went down from 4.0 to 3.3 and her absolute neutraphils
went down from 2.3 to 1.7 which means she is neutrapenic again.  During her hospital stay her platelets
went down to 90 but Praise the Lord they have now come up to 117.  She had a bone marrow biopsy on
the 23rd so please pray with us that the biopsy will show that the leukemia is still in remission.  Thank
you for your prayers.

May 3, 2012
Mary went to the disease specialist today and they were pleased with her counts.  They gave her the
first of a series of hepatitis A shots today.  This is all of the injections they will be giving her.  They
were going to work on building up her counts but the Praise the Lord they are coming up without
medication.

May 2, 2012
What an awesome God we serve.  He has heard the prayers of His saints and Mary is no longer
neutrapenic.  Words cannot express how we feel so we will let the numbers speak for themselves.
Please continue to pray.

April 9, 2012
Mary's blood work for the month of March came back with some of her counts going up and some down.
Please continue to pray that her counts will continue to go up.  The doctors are very optimistic and feel
that in the very  near future she will turn a corner.

March 12, 2012
Praise the Lord, Mary's leukemia is still in remission!  Her bone marrow biopsy shows no active leukemia
cells.  Please continue to pray for an increase in her blood counts and her healing.  To God be the glory!

March 2, 2012
Mary had her blood work and bone marrow biopsy done at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.  We will not have
the bone marrow results for 10 days. The doctor was encouraged even though some of the counts went
down.  She explained that the chemo killed so much of the cells that they are weak.  It is not unusual
for the counts to go up and down and she told us that we needed to be patient.  They checked Mary's
liver enzymes and they are good.  She is neutrapenic which means she needs to be careful about coming
in contact with sickness or colds.  Please continue to pray for the results of the bone marrow biopsy.

Mary's Range                            Normal Range
Hemaglobin                            last month 12.2 up to 12.7               12.1 to 15.1

February 27, 2012
Mary's blood work and bone marrow biopsy have been rescheduled for the 29th.  We will be posting the
results as soon as we receive them.  Mary and I want to thank you for your faithful prayers on her
behalf.

January 31, 2012
Mary had blood work done on Friday, January 27 and we received the results.

Mary's Range                            Normal Range
Hemaglobin                            last month 13.7 down to 12.2            12.1 to 15.1
Hematocrat                           last month 39.8 down to 36.8            36.1 to 44.3
Platelets                               last month 124  up to 136                144 to 440
White Blood Count                    last month 3.5 stayed at 3.5             3.8 to 9.8
Absolute Neutrophils                 last month 1.6  up to 2.0                  1.9 to 6.6

Please continue to pray because the doctor wants Mary's counts in the mid to upper range for 3
consecutive months before she can return to the Dominican.

December 29, 2011
Mary had blood work done on Friday, December 23rd.  We received the results today and none of her
counts went down, Praise the Lord!  Her hemoglobin is 13.7 and the hematocrat is 39.8 which means she
is producing her own blood.  Platelets went from 87 to 124 and the doctors are excited that they are
over 100.  Her white blood count was 3.2 and is now 3.5.  This was not the jump the doctors wanted
but it did go up.  She has 5 more points to go before it is in the normal range of 4.0.  Her Neutraphils
are 1.6 and did not move at all.  This is because Mary's white blood count is not at least 4.0.  Mary
will have the next blood tests done the end of January.  Please pray they will continue to raise toward
the normal levels.

November 28, 2011
What a great God we serve.  Mary went to the doctor today and they have decided that she does not
need the last chemo treatment.  Her red count is in the low normal range, and her remaining counts are
low.  She is still neutrapenic and must be careful not to catch anything.  She will continue monthly blood
work and this will be done in Kirksville.  The 25th of February they will do another bone marrow biopsy
to see if the leukemia is still in remission.  They removed her port today and she is continuing oral
medication.  Please pray as they watch the progress of her counts in hopes that they will reach the low
normal range.

November 22, 2011
Mary had to go back to the hospital on Thursday, November 17, because her port site was red and fluid
was coming out of it.  Upon examination they discovered that the last stitch that held the port in place
had pulled out and the fluid was from the port coming out of her neck 1 1/4".  They could not take the
risk of pushing it back in due to infection.  They admitted her and a new port was inserted.  She spent
the night for observation.  Please continue to pray for the appointment on November 28.  Pray that God
will give the doctors wisdom when making the decision about the last chemo treatment.

November 7, 2011
Dr Abdoud said that he is not putting Mary through chemo at this time because her neutraphils are very
low and they would be putting her life in danger.  She has an appointment the 28th of November and the
doctor will decide if she will receive the last chemo treatment.  Her counts are too low and he does not
want to take any chances with her life.

October 28, 2011
Praise the Lord the leukemia is still in remission.  They still want to do the last round of chemo to give
Mary a better chance of the leukemia staying in remission longer or completely getting rid of it.  She is
scheduled for November 7 to begin the week long chemo.  Her main doctor is out of town and his
associates, who want to do the last treatment, said that he will make the final decision when he returns
this week.  Our God is so good!

October 20, 2011
The doctors have found the source of Mary's infection to be in her bowel.  This was the cause of the
fever and change in her white blood count.  The infection also caused her red blood count to go from
11.0 to 9.0 yesterday.  Praise the Lord, her immune system was built up enough to replenish the red
blood count on its own.  Today her red blood count is 11.1 which means no blood transfusion.  It was
determined that the pain she is experiencing is from the site of the bone marrow biopsy.  There is a
knot close to where the biopsy was taken.  The knot has gotten smaller today and the doctors feel that
it will continue to decrease in size and her pain will cease.  They will try her on oral pain medication.  If
it works for her she will be discharged from the hospital in a couple of days.

October 18, 2011
They called in neurologists to look at Mary's MRI to determine if they should go in and relieve the
pressure on her spine.  After review they determined that it would be best not to do any invasive
procedure at this time.  They are going to manage her pain with medication and therapy.  The results of
the spinal tap are back and praise the Lord there is no leukemia in the spinal fluid.  God is so good.  We
do not have the results of the bone marrow tap.  When she goes to the doctor on October 28 we will
know the results then.  The blood culture showed no infection, we are still waiting on the urine and bowel
culture.  They have her on antibiotics and her white count is back to normal.

October 17, 2011
Mary started getting really bad headaches after the spinal tap.  She went in Thursday for a blood
smear to seal the leaking of the spinal fluid.  The headaches stopped but she started getting lower back
pain and pain shooting down her legs.  She was admitted today and an MRI was done to determine what
was causing the pain.  Blood work was done as well and her white blood count is up to 13.  She is running
a fever which is a sign of infection.  They have started her on antibotics.   A neurologist is coming in to
work with the pain in her back and legs.  Please pray that MRI will show the cause of the pain and that
blood cultures will determine what type of infection it is.

October 12, 2011
Mary had both procedures and they went very well.  She is in a lot of pain and we will be calling the
doctor if the headache persists.  The headache is caused from the spinal fluid leaking.  Please pray that
it will heal on its own.

October 7, 2011
Mary went to the doctor today, had blood work, and received news that some of her counts are within
the normal range and some are not.  Her platelets dropped 10 points and the doctors are not sure why.
The doctor did said that this might be her normal level for the rest of her life due to the chemo
treatments.  They are doing a spinal tap on Tuesday, October 11th, to make sure there are no
microscopic leukemia cells hiding in the spinal fluid.  She will have a bone marrow tap on Wednesday,
October 12th, to see if the leukemia is still in remission.  The results of these two tests and continued
blood work will give them a reference point as to how to continue with Mary's treatment.

October 5, 2011
Mary has another doctor's appointment on Friday, October 7, to have more blood work done.  These
results will determine when her next round of chemo will start. Please pray that her counts are up.

September 23, 2011
Mary went to the doctor today and her counts are up, but not enough to start the last week of chemo
treatment.  The doctor said that her counts need to be as normal as possible because she is going to
really bottom out after the week of chemo.  There is a rumor that has gotten back to me that Mary
was misdiagnosed and that she does not have leukemia.  This is not true.  Mary was diagnosed with
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on the mission field and that diagnosis was confirmed by Barnes Jewish
Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on March 18th.  Please continue to pray as she continues her treatment.
A bone marrow tap will be done 5 weeks following her last week of chemo to see if the leukemia is still
in remission.

August 28, 2011
Mary was discharged from the hospital on August 23 even though her counts were low.  We are
administering antibiotics through her port each day.  Her counts have fallen more since she was released
and they gave her platelets on Thursday, August 25.  She is neutrapenic, which means she is not able to
be out.  They moved her next chemo up as far as they could to give her counts time to come up.  Please
pray that her counts would come up quickly as her next chemo is scheduled for the week of September
19.

August 18, 2011
Mary is feeling much better today.  The blood cultures showed a bacterial infection and it turned out to
be ecoli.  They are treating it with a 14 day regiment of antibiotics that she will finish at home once
her counts are up.   She has received one unit of platelets and two units of blood.  Her platelets are
20, red blood count 11.4, and white blood count 0.3.  Please pray that her white blood count goes up so
she can be discharged from the hospital.

August 16, 2011
This morning we had to bring Mary back to the hospital because of a fever.  The doctor feels that she
has an infection.  Her immune system is way down and she has no way to fight it.  They sedated her
because of the shaking.  Please pray that God would give the doctors wisdom and Mary the grace that
she needs to go through this.  She said that this is the worse that she has been through this whole
process.

August 3, 2011
Mary went to the doctor Tuesday and will be admitted Thursday to start chemo.  Please pray because
she is starting to get a cold.  She is sneezing and her nose is running a little bit.

July 18, 2011
Mary was discharged today and most of her counts are up to normal.  They did find a parasite and she
was treated with antibiotics and within 24 hours started turning around.  The next step is on July 28
she will have another round of chemo.  We are praying that she won't have as many problems since they
treated the parasite.  She has several doctors appointments coming up within the next two weeks.  We
are at the camper and continuing to experience the blessings of God.

July 12, 2011
Mary had fever all night that got as high as 104.  The doctors have determined that she does not have
a bacterial infection.  They also checked for a sinus infection and there was nothing.  They think that it
is the neutrapenic, which is caused from her low blood counts.  The doctors want to make sure that they
are not missing anything so they are continuing antibiotics and started a new one today to cover fungal
infections.  She has stopped vomiting and ate some dry cereal and fruit for breakfast today.  Continue
to pray that God will reveal to the doctors the source of the infection.

July 10, 2011
Mary had a really bad night.  Her fever came back, she was in a lot of pain, and they had to sedate
her to stop her from shaking.  They know that she has a bacterial infection and are treating it with
antibiotics.  Please pray that the medication will work. Mary has no immune system and this is very
serious.   An infection at this time is life threatening.  Pray for God's healing power.

July 8, 2011
Mary started running a fever last night and it got up to 102.  They were able to get it down, started
giving her blood and the fever spiked again.  They had to stop the blood transfusion and she was
admitted to the hospital.  Her fever broke about 8:00 p.m. tonight and we are waiting for them to
check her counts to see if she can complete her blood transfusion.

July 5, 2011
Mary went to the doctor and her platelets were 3 and red blood count was 9.2 and falling.  She
received platelets today and possibly will need blood tomorrow.  She has not been as sick with vomiting
and nausea as she has been with past chemo treatments.  The doctors have decided that she will need
two more chemo treatments followed by a bone marrow tap.  This will determine if she will need any
further treatments.  This month they will start testing her brother and sister to see if their bone
marrow is compatible. They will store the bone marrow should she need it in the future.  With this type
of leukemia there is a very high percentage rate of reoccurrence within the first three years.  Please
continue to pray.

June 22, 2011
Praise the Lord, Mary's counts are up.  Her red blood count is 10.6, white blood count 4.3, and
platelets are 120.  She will begin another round of follow up chemo on Thursday, June 23.  This round
will be much harder on her.  They will be changing her chemo to a much stronger strength which is part
of the follow up.  Please continue to pray for her strength.

June 13, 2011
Mary went to the doctor today and received a report that her counts are still low.  They have
postponed her next round of chemo.  She will go back to the doctor next Tuesday, June 21, to have her
counts checked.  If they are up she will begin chemo on Thursday, June 23.  Please pray that her
platelets will be above 100.  She will not be able to take the chemo for fear of bleeding if they are
not. Praise the Lord, Mary qualified for medicaid and they will cover her past bills from May to present.
That leaves March and April's bills outstanding.  Pray for a family in the Dominican, Gilbert and Mimos.
Satan is really attacking them.

May 31, 2011
Mary has had several bad days with yesterday being the worst. She has been running a fever of 99.8
to 102.8 for almost a week, but doing better today. She had 2 more blood transfusions and another
platelet transfusion since the last update. Today she had neutraphils for the first time. Her neutraphil
count is 28, AMEN!!!!! It won't be long now before she starts feeling good again.

May 27, 2011
Mary developed a fever and after seeing the doctor they discovered that her counts had bottomed out.
She was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, May 25.  After receiving two units of blood and 1 bag
of platelets her counts are: white cells 0.6, red cells 8.7, platelets 21, and neutraphils 0. They will not
discharge her until these counts are closer to the normal range.  Please pray that her counts will
rebound so she will be ready for her next followup chemo treatment in a few weeks.

May 17, 2011
Mary is going through her first round of followup chemo and will finish Thursday.  She is doing very well
considering some of the side affects such as headaches, leg cramps, and mild nausea.  Her doctor said
that she may not have to have as many rounds of chemo as they first thought.  Pray that her counts
rebound quickly so that she won't need many blood and platelet transfusions.  Starting Friday, May 20,
they will be following her progress as an outpatient until the next round of chemo is due.

May 2, 2011
The bone marrow biopsy is clear, praise the Lord.  The doctor informed us that the type of leukemia
Mary has can come back at any time.  She will start chemo again on the 13th of May and will have
chemo every 5th week for a total of 4 treatments.

May 1, 2011
Mary's fever is gone and she has been released from the hospital.  The preliminary findings of the last
bone marrow biopsy is still showing no leukemia.

April 28, 2011
Mary started running a fever and we had to take her to the hospital.  They admitted her Tuesday
evening. They have not figured out what is causing the fever.  She will remain in the hospital for a few
days.

April 23, 2011
Mary was released from Barnes Hospital today.  We are headed to our camper which is about 10
minutes from the hospital.  She will begin blood work Monday and a bone marrow biopsy on Thursday.
Once we receive the results we will know better what the followup treatment is going to be.  She will
have her next round of chemo the middle of May.

April 18, 2011
Today was a great day for us.  Mary's white blood count went from 0.8 to 1.3, her platelets went from
21 to 40 on their own, and her neutrophil levels are up from 48 to 91.  She received blood yesterday so
the reading for her red bloods count went up but not on their own.  The levels are climbing slow, but we
will take even the small victories.  Please pray as she has been coughing and sneezing a little today.
They are watching to see if it may be allergies.

April 16, 2011
Mary and I want to thank everyone who has so faithfully prayed during this time.  I believe that God
still does miracles, but I believe that He does it through the faithful prayers of His saints.  We are
rejoicing in the fact the blood counts have been stable for the last three days.  They are still very low
and the fear of infection is ever present.  She woke up with a fever today and the nurse said that
there is a possibility of an infection somewhere or it could be from the chemo.  Please pray as they
treat her with antibiotics during this time that Mary will not get an infection.  The sores in her mouth
are better than they were, but continue to pray that they will not get infected as her immune system
has not rebounded.

April 11, 2011
A day that started out not so good turned into a great day!!!  Mary started the day out weak and her
stomach was upset. She was not feeling well.  They gave her platelets today and she felt really good
after that! But the best news of all is that we got the results of the bone marrow. THEY DID NOT
FIND ANY LEUKEMIA CELLS! The first treatment has put it in remission. She will need to have
preventative chemo treatments for the next 4-6 months. We have won a great victory, but the battle
is not over.  It is of the utmost importance that Mary does not get an infection. She will be remain in
the hospital until her counts go back up. GOD IS GOOD!!! Keep up the prayers!!

April 10, 2011
Mary had a couple of rough days.  We will know part of the tests results late Monday and all of the
results on Tuesday.  If Mary has a lot of leukemia blasts they will do another round of chemo
immediately.  If the leukemia blasts have decreased then the doctor will determine the direction of
treatment.  Please pray that the leukemia blasts are decreased.  The doctor said that Mary will remain
in the hospital at least to the  middle of May.

April 8, 2011
Good news Mary has not needed any blood since Friday!! She has received several rounds of platelets.
There are good and bad days and yesterday was both.  Her platelet level was down and she was tired

The results of the CAT scan came back and PRAISE THE LORD Mary does not have an infection.
It is just going to take some time for her mouth to heal.  She is receiving a unit of platelets today
because her count is down to 7.

Today Mary had a CAT scan.  Due to the sores in her mouth and the fevers they are looking to see if
she has an infection.  Please pray that she does not.  Her white blood count is currently 0.4 which
means that her body has no defense against an infection.  Her red blood count came up 3 tenths of a
point on its own.

Today was the last day of Mary's first chemo treatment. She had a pretty good day today!!  She still
has a bad rash all over her body and the inside of her mouth is full of sores. They are giving her 2
more units of blood tonight and she is still dealing with fevers pretty much every night. Please pray that
she has a good night tonight and can get some good rest.

Today was a bad day as Mary was very sick  She felt a little better after receiving a unit of
platelets.  Mary has developed a rash all over her body from one of the medications. We are waiting to
hear what the next step will be to treat this.  Thursday they will hang the last bag of chemo that will
finish Friday at noon. Keep praying that the treatment will work.

Mary had a better day today.  She is still having pain in her stomach and running a fever.  This is day
four of her chemotherapy.  They also found an infection in her intestines and have started medications
for that.  She is receiving another two units of blood today.

A bone marrow extraction was attempted on Mary but was unsuccessful and they had to do the testing
on bone fragments.  The results have determined that her leukemia is doable.  A chemo drip was
started on Friday, March 25, which will continue for 7 days, 24 hours a day.  An experimental drug
that extracts the leukemia cells from the bone marrow, puts them in the blood stream to heal, is also
being used for 6 days.  Another bone marrow tap will be done in 14 days.  Currently Mary's bone
marrow is not making any red blood cells.

We arrived in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday evening, March 18 and went to the emergency room at
Barnes Hospital.  Mary's medical records and testing from the Dominican Republic were given to the
physician in the emergency.  They took a blood test and confirmed that Mary does in fact have AML
(Acute Myeloid Leukemia).  She was admitted immediately to cancer care at Barnes Hospital.   They
have started her on chemo pills to bring down the white blood cell count so they can start the actual
chemotherapy.  Monday, March 21, they will be inserting a pic line in her neck for the chemotherapy
and a bone marrow extraction will also be done to determine which type of AML she has.  Their goal is
to start chemotherapy on Wednesday, March 23.
